Marley A. Garner and Nancy Howell Garner

Marley A. Garner and Nancy Elizabeth Howell were married in Amity, Arkansas on February 21, 1884.

Marley was the son of Jesse Garner and Pernecia America Jackson.  The Garner's were a prolific family; Jesse Garner had over 100 grandchildren.  Today, almost every living person in Amity is either a Garner or can claim a relation to a Garner family member.

Marley's brothers and sisters were Susan E., Mary Jane, Isaac, Margaret, Jesse Morgan, Calloway A., Nancy, William Martin and Monroe.  Marley and William Martin Garner were twins.

Nancy Elizabeth Howell was the daughter of James W. and Barbara Howell, the Howell's were from Alabama.  The Howell family in Amity is also a very large one with many descendants and relations.

Marley and Nancy Garner had 15 children: Ferbia Adaline, Barbara, Mary Susan, Johnny, Aaron Thomas, Rosco, Nadie, Jesse, David William, Wallace, Artie Mae, Bertha Lillie, Versie Viola, Manual Ervin and Edna L.

It is unclear who Joe Ray's parents were, maybe John and Ellen Garner of Pike County, Arkansas, but it's not certain.  Joe Ray doesn't seem to be closely related, if at all, to the very large Garner Family of Amity, Arkansas.

Lola Ruth was the daughter of Levi Edward Deering and Emma Elizabeth "Lizzie" Cox Deering of Amity.  Levi Deering was originally from Henry County, Georgia, but moved to Amity at a young age and married Lizzie there in 1885.

Lizzie Cox was the daughter of Jonathan and Rebecca Cox of Pickens County, Georgia, who moved to Arkansas and are the progenitors of a large Cox Family which is spread throughout Clark and Pike Counties.

Richard C. Fox

Richard Fox was born in Louisiana and fought in the Civil War in the 31st Louisiana Infantry for the Confederacy.  After the War, around 1870, he and his brother John settled in Clark County.

Richard C. Fox married Nancy Ann Deaton, the daughter of Goodin Deaton and Lucinda Jackson Deaton, on September 21, 1873 in Clark County, Arkansas.  Richard was 41, and Nancy was 23.

Richard and Nancy had seven children: Julia Elizabeth, Garland, Cornelia, Eugenia, Carrie, Allen, John William "Willie"

Richard died on December 22, 1898.
